Lovers
Joe Cave

I started writing this song this morning, and recorded it this evening. I’ve been working on the lyrics throughout the day. I wanted it to be recorded simply, and as an acoustic track. I think it’s important to hear songs at their raw beginnings, and hear them as they were intended.

LYRICS

Verse One)
I will find you, in the morning
Wondered where you went
You left a letter, by the dresser
It was all you left

Chorus)
If you want to be my lover
You must be my friend
If you want to be my lover
You must be my friend

Verse Two)
I will make you kinda anxious
When you’re almost calm
I will scare you out of boredom
Just tell me when you’re done

Chorus)
If you want to be my lover
You must be my friend
If you want to be my lover
You must be my friend

Bridge)
If you want to, I will try to
Scare away the dark

Chorus)
If you want to be my lover
You must be my friend
If you want to be my lover
You must be my friend

Verse Three)
I will write down, all your sweetness
Because I rarely see
Such an esteem, quite low on taking
What everyone else sees

Chorus)
If you want to be my lover
You must be my friend
If you want to be my lover
You must be my friend

This is the video to my new song ‘Sibling’, it was filmed in Crystal Palace Park, near my home in London. Enjoy!

This song is called ‘The Anarchist’ - it’s a song about a complicated woman being pursued by a complete simpleton. Complete fiction, but actually something that seems to happen all the time.

My first music video!!! This is a song of mine called ‘Mrs Violet’ - the video to this was directed by my good friend Dan Shipton & Mrs Violet was played by Alexa Brown! I hope you enjoy the video!! x

Tiny Space Man

This is a song called ‘Tiny Space Man’, I wrote it a few weeks ago and have just got around to uploading it. It came soon after watching the film ‘The Time Traveler’s Wife’, it’s not exclusively about that movie, but It definitely inspired this song!

Happy Face

This song is called ‘Happy Face’, a song about my admiration for people who show incredible bravery whilst facing hard times. A strangely optimistic song from me! Enjoy it while it lasts!

Jackpot in Vegas

‘Jackpot in Vegas’ is my song at number 19, This is a song about the past, and how things you have experienced in it can hold you back in life. Once bitten, twice shy. It’s an open letter to myself, just an admission really. I’m guilty of doing this, time and time again.

I suppose the moral is to live today, forget about yesterday, and just to enjoy the journey…

Our street was a street light away
From looking like vegas on a holiday
I played the slots, we laughed alot
We smiled, I won the jackpot

I wonder do we ever, sing alone

I’m already singing the blues
I’m already singing yesterdays news
yesterdays news

It doesn’t seem that long ago
I was good from head to toe
It happened then, it’s here again
I should make a break for it

I wonder does we ever, sing alone

I’m already singing the blues
I’m already singing yesterdays news
yesterdays news

I wonder do we ever dream the same dream
And if we do are the scenes still the same?
Or have you found a new dream?
Do you even miss me?

I found you, the other night
Looking through the bible with a pocket light
You scanned the page, but never looked
Between the lines to see the book

I wonder does we ever, sing alone

I’m already singing the blues
I’m already singing yesterdays news
yesterdays news

Killing Yourself

Killing Yourself

We said that we will never speak
But when I walk out on the street
There is she, looking right at me

I’m never one, to overstay
When the love runs out, I’ll be on my way
I live for love, what I would give for love

When I’m old I think that I will break
I don’t think there is much more I can take
I think it’s better being underground

The message spreads like a car-crash bed
The streaming eyes for the village dead
Hey how are ya? It’s been far too long

All she did was a minute
Took my life, poked a hole right through it
Innocent girl, you’re not innocent…

When I’m old I think that I will break
I won’t stand on my feet and make it through the day
I think it’s better being underground

I think it’s better being underground

As I wanna fade away

I think it’s better being underground

I can’t believe, this is all to me
Thought there would be more to see
But this is it, seems a wasted trip

I believe that true love see’s
All you are, and what you are
meant to be, I’ve had enough of me

When I’m old I think that I will break
I don’t think there is much more I can take
I think it’s better being underground

Time & Sympathy

This is a song called ‘Time & Sympathy’, the 17th out of my 99 songs challenge. This is another song that has been a week or so in the making, mostly because I re-wrote the verses several times. It’s an acoustic track, recorded live in my living room. I hope to record a full instrumental version sometime in the near future!

I hope everyone had a good Christmas and New Years! This is my first posting of 2011, a song called ‘The Boy Who Was Born Alone’. I noted the idea for this song on my iphone a few days before Christmas, and finished it earlier today. I have found it really useful to have something portable to record my ideas onto before putting them on here!

This song is called ‘There’s a First Time For Everything’ and is dedicated to anyone who has (like me) been fired from a job in the past! It took me about 2 hours to write this one, using my iphone to record the bare structure of it, and then penning in the final lyrics the next day!

I have received lots of requests to ‘see the guitar’ on youtube, so this is my attempt… I make absolutely no apologies for the video centering! I stand by it as ‘Artistic License’ :o)…..

Enjoy, and keep the song suggestions coming!

Don't Ask Me My Name

This is song number 14, ‘Don’t Ask Me My Name’. A song about finding your identity and being comfortable with who you are. The single of this song was released on itunes in December 2010, BUY IT HERE.

In My Mind
Demo 2010

This song is called ‘In My Mind’, it’s been on my myspace for a while but I thought you guys would want to hear it here! This one is basically a huge rant at a certain group of people, mainly musicians, who tend to mimic themselves and fill every type of ‘muso’ stereotype going!

Figure Out

This song is called ‘Figure Out’, it was written at some point last week, after finally writing a chorus! In the midst of lots of new songs being written, I thought this would be a good one to post here first. Please do let me know your thoughts! The Youtube Video was shot on bonfire night in Greenwich, London.

There's a You I Want

This song is called ‘There’s a You I Want’… It’s song number 11, and is a ‘missed connections’ type song. Wondering where they are and what they are now doing. keep posted because there are many more songs to come this week!
